Mobile robots have been increasingly applied in many different scenarios, such as space exploration and search and rescue, where the robots are required to travel over uneven terrain while outdoors. This book provides a new framework and the related algorithms for designing autonomous mobile robotic systems in such unknown outdoor environments.

About the Author
Xiaorui Zhu received the B.S. and the M.S. degree in mechatronics engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, in 1998 and 2000 respectively, and Ph.D. degrees in mechanical engineering from University of Utah, Salt Lake City, in 2006. She is currently a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Automation, Harbin Institute of Technology Shenzhen Graduate School, Shenzhen, China since 2007.
