+ Batman: The Widening Gyre Issues #1-2

Batman: The Widening Gyre is the first of two six-issue miniseries from DC Comics and writer Kevin Smith, the second series to be released six months after the end of the first. This "666" reference, coupled with the the title itself referencing William Butler Yeats' poem "The Second Coming", undoubtedly brings the inference this series would be supernatural in theme--the anti-Christ's return, perhaps? With decent artwork by Walter Flanagan, this descent into darker realms that begins with a light trip down memory lane is worth following. What keeps me glued, however, is the fact that that's Bruce Wayne underneath the cape and cowl. Issue #3 is entitled "Things Fall Apart."
