Effects of the troposphere on radio communication

English | 1979 | ISBN: 0906048257 | 206 Pages | PDF | 49.9 MB

The book is concerned primarily with the effects of the troposphere and the ground on wave propagation at frequencies greater than about 30 MHz, although reference is made also to ionospheric phenomena where these are relevant. Consideration is given to the nature of atmospheric refractive index variations and of hydrometeor characteristics and their effects on radio waves. The characteristics of line-of-sight, earth-to-space, and beyond-horizon links are discussed, along with the coverage area of a transmitter used for broadcasting or mobile services and interference.
