This Time-Life series is a great bit of publishing; these books are well written, well photographed, and well worth the going prices for used volumes. Rubens' life is less well known that those of many of the others in the series. There's no big Hollywood movies about him - but he'd make for a good one. He was not only a prolific and dazzlingly talented painter, but worked for his government as a diplomat and rubbed elbows with nobility all over the content and in England to boot. Altogether delightful.
