Abby is a special girl, adopted from the Quesnel SPCA in August 2006 when she was about a year old. This little darling had a tough start in life, abused from the age of about 3 months old until she was rescued at 9 months.
Sadly, these months of abuse left Abby with general anxiety and fear of new people, especially men. Abby is a wolfdog and although this breed builds strong bonds with humans, when their trust is violated, it is extremely hard to rebuild it.
When we brought Abby home, she built an immediate bond with her feline and canine family, but it took her months to start trusting people.
So little Miss Abby will be 11 this year and has come so far. She is a sweet, gentle girl, who can be very funny and quite cheeky too. Although she is still shy, it takes her only a couple of minutes to warm up to people, and has learned that people can be alright.
